Riding For The Brand
Howdy Everyone! One of the greatest "Old West" slogans is, "Ride for the Brand", but what exactly does that mean. Well, back in the late 1800s amd early 1900s, cowboys that would "Ride for the Brand" were cowboys that were loyal to one foreman or one ranch.This was the cowboy's way of saying that he was loyal to the outfit that he worked for and would provide the best he could offer of hard work, trustwothiness and respect to his boss.
The idea of not taking an unfair advantage of the job is what it meant to "Ride for the Brand". Years soon passed and the "Old West" cowboy way of life vanished for the most part, but why did something so amazing just seem to dissapear. The reason for this was character.
A person's character reflects who they are, where they have been and what they represent. The character of a Christian should tell that they are a believer, that they have been down rough trails at time, but they stand for the meaning of Jesus Christ. Every person falls, but why should someone stay down all the time.
If the Christian walk was to be looked at by Christians the way the cowboys looked at herding cattle for an outfit would a Christian's character not be as strong as steel. He or she would be unbreakable in faultering situations. Christ says in John 5:30, "I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me." Jesus states right here, clear and simple that He seeks not his own will, but the will of God.
Jesus rides for the brand of God and if that isn't enough of a witness for Christians to want to stand to what they believe, I don't know what is. I know that as a believer in the Lord, I want to remain faithful to my outfit. I will represent the Lord Jesus Christ with respect and honor so that I too can say that I ride for the brand.
Whether you sit a horse for a living or sit a computer chair and you claim to "Ride for the Brand" of Christ: Show it because the work of the Lord is always happening and another saddled rider can always be used. Till next time folks, have a great day, stay strong and God bless you all!
