Students will complete a project in which each student will identify how geometry is a part of our everyday lives. The student will have to identify 30 different “real life” places or objects where geometry is evident. Students will choose an overall theme for the video that they make. An example of this might be: “Going Down the Road”. The student could begin the video as they get into the car and explain how geometry is used in the design of roads and cars, how the meaning of road signs can be determined just by their shapes, how the power lines are parallel to each other and how the utility poles are perpendicular to the ground. The students will have the flexibility to apply this project to something that they are already interested in. This project will give students a different avenue by which to display what they have learned in Geometry. It will also help them understand how important geometry is in our world and how it is all around us even thought we might not realize it.
