2012-2013 Professional Training Program
The subject of breath is the deepest of all subjects with which mysticism or philosophy is concerned, because breath is the most important thing in life...(it) is the result of a current which runs not only through the body, but also through all the planes of man's existence...the current of the whole of nature... It is one breath and yet it is many breaths.

Barratt Breathworks Model
Barratt Breathworks is a unique fusion of meditative and mindfulness breathing practices designed to unleash the healing and transformative power of the breath. Rather than advocating breath control techniques, our approach focuses on a discipline of pranayama, or "conscious breathing," aimed at rediscovering the natural state of the breath and liberating it from the tensions imposed on it. In freeing the natural breath, we not only revitalize our life energies, but also open a gateway to higher consciousness and our own inner powers of healing.
Our model features three distinct levels of work:
RESTORATIVE BREATHWORK
We begin with a progressive sequence of mindfulness breathing practices designed to identify and dismantle poor breathing habits as a means of enhancing the body's natural ability to draw in and absorb prana. Emphasis is on reducing stress and its effects on the mind and body. This approach serves as a foundation for learning how to consciously work with the breath to restore physical and mental well being.
TRANSPERSONAL BREATHWORK
This next sequence of breathwork sessions combines mindfulness breathing practices with bioenergy techniques desgined to correct and balance energy flow. Emphasis is on stimulating the flow of energy within the subtle energy system of the "chakras" as a means to uncover and transform emotional blocks. This is a dynamic and integrative approach, facilitating personal and spiritual development.
ADVANCED TRANSPERSONAL BREATHWORK
The inner work continues with a progressive sequence of mindfulness breathing practices and bioenergy techniques designed to culitvate and deepen the "meditative mind." Emphasis is on "following" the breath without interfering with it. This simple yet powerful approach to breathwork awakens higher states of consciousness, fostering spiritual development. It is highly recommended for those who are learning to meditate as well as those who seek to deepen an existing meditation practice.
