JUST BEFORE DINNER... a different name for a reading series?
Well yes!
It's all about light touch....like cooking fish.....it's best when slightly underdone.
We invite the best of Newfoundland and Labrador’s authors and poets to read from their most recent published work. Just before dinner at 6 o'clock.
A 20 minute reading is followed by an informal discussion with the reader. You can also purchase the featured book.
It's over by 7 PM - nothing long and ponderous.
Connecting our guests to both the past and present of this place makes for a richer and more rewarding visit. Writers are good at this. And we all love to be read to....evocative perhaps of younger days?
Our interest in contemporary cultural expression through this reading series, original art on our walls and our shop filled with juried crafts from local artisans celebrates the unique qualities of this place.
And so, as the days grow shorter, in collaboration with our partner The Writers Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador, we present on four consecutive Saturdays this reading series, now in it's fourth year, admission is free...
...and while no one has to stay for dinner, you are more than welcome to!
