3D Print
For a 3D print exchange through Spudnik Press of Chicago each participant received a package of 20 sheets of 8” x 10” stonehenge paper preprinted with a graphed background in colors which allows a printed image to seem to float when viewed through 3D glasses. In the small photo I’m trying out my 3D glasses and looking at the photo of my image on the computer screen to see if it works even there. I discovered it works much better seeing it up close and personal in the real 3D world (using the 3D glasses) than on a flat screen and digitized.
I had to get out my little clumsy poster press to make the prints for this edition. Stonehenge paper is too thick for printing dry (my registration method of taping the paper to the registration board doesn’t allow for printing damp) to get a good image even with a strong ball bearing baren. I also still had to use the baren at the corners and in a couple places within the black areas of the coat. I prefer kitakata paper for my work, but this was interesting and kind of fun to try for a change. I’m looking forward to seeing the other entries.
The image itself was taken from a photo I had made last Halloween of my son Shane wearing a mask and skeleton hands.
