Valle Nevado is Amazing!

We went up to Valle Nevado on Saturday morning and the taxi that came to pick us up at Grischa & Tina’s wasn’t quite up to the task to transport three people and snowboard gear (see photo). I had brought some cam straps for this very reason, but unfortunately the taxi’s roof wasn’t up to carrying that much weight, luckily we didn’t have to buy the guys car!

The road to the mountain is beautiful, treacherous and incredibly twisty with countless switch backs. Once we arrived we checked in to the Hotel Tres Puntes and changed in to our gear to get out on the hill. The weather was awesome and it was really easy to over dress even at    9000+ feet. We found great spring snow in an area called Valle Del Inca which became the runs of choice for all of us over the 3 days we were there. The snow was some of the best spring conditions I have ever seen and to find untracked areas you just needed to traverse or hike a little further than your previous run. Each day on the hill ended with soaking in the hot pool at the hotel and soaking in the amazing views. I had a massage on Sunday afternoon and for 30 minutes for $25 it was among the best I ever had.

Jake and Elaine got bad news on Sunday night that Jake’s Uncle (his dad’s youngest brother) died in a freak quad runner accident on Friday. My thoughts and sympathy goes out to the Woodard family for their loss.

We came off the mountain after a long day of riding yesterday and clouds had socked in the lower valleys making the drive down super sketchy with poor visibility.

The weather is overcast this morning and we are going to check out a few of the museums that were closed on Friday. Im not sure if Jake & Elaine will fly out tonight or tomorrow. I am going to go to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar (out at the coast) for a few days after Jake and Elaine leave.

Hope all is well with you all!
