Tomorrow I have to go to hospital for a colposcopy after nearly two years of being prodded and poked. You know the medics really do not help quash your worries making you wait so damn long to find out what really is going on. I must admit even it is a routine procedure, I am absolutely petrified about what is going to happen. Total fear of the unknown. I must admit the thought of letting a doctor and some nurses look at my neither regions freaks me out. I always feel ashamed of how I look and after all the worry, this just tops it off nicely. I know us women go on about how men have it easy, but in this instance I think they do totally.
The good news is that the UK Government is finally taking note of the need for action against cervical cancer and they are going to start a programme of inoculations for girls 12-13 years old against the PAP virus. I think anything that fights against Cancer is a good thing.
So tomorrow think of me whilst I wear a smile on my face whilst I am scrutinised by a doctor with a massive big microscope!
