Today. . . while I was in the classsroom with my high school graphic design class. . .  we talked about the concept of ‘simple’. They are learning about logo design - & it comes up over & over again that the logos that are simple - are often the best. So as they go about the task of re-designing a current logo of their choice, my students soon find that ‘simple’ does not mean ‘easy’ - as doing ‘simple’ well can take time. . . sometimes more time than we think.

And so it went with my new book, ‘Simple Things, Small Joys’. . . it took a whole lot longer to complete & have ready to ship - than I thought!

But, finally - it is here. (!) Thank you to all of you who sent me e-mails of encouragement & for those of you who pre-ordered it. . .  you blessed me in ways I cannot tell you. So, please accept my sincere thanks.

‘Simple Things’ was supposed to be available & ready to ship at the beginning of December - but that was not to be. . . . between visitors coming into town - to my discovery that the month of December was indeed a very busy time for my printer. . . it became very clear that this book’s release had it’s very own time-table.

What this book has become is a very special time capsule of-sorts for me. Some of the quilts are the last quilts that my Mom ooh’ed & aah’ed over - as I would bring them into her room for her to see. Some of the quilts were the first of my quilts that she never got to see. . . (well. . . in person that is.) And, the title was the subject of many a conversation we had - about what really made us happy.

So this is a very special book for me.

And to celebrate it’s arrival (& the fact that this would have been my 100th & something post - had I not lost the old blog!) I want to share this book with some of you!
