You learn it soon into your teaching career. . . the most important people to get to know on the campus. . . are the administration but rather the maintenance people! Thankfully - the guys at our school are absolute sweethearts & so each year - at least once or twice - I bake up a batch of cookies - just to say thanks for all they do.
They do so much that we take for granted & so much more that we don’t ever know about. Also this year - as our school is opening up a new building & that means almost every teacher has moved rooms - these guys have had more work on their hands than anyone could possibly handle! My room was one of those. After 14 years of being in the same classroom - a room created as ‘the art room’ - I found myself having to move rooms. . . it’s a long story - but I’m in a new room (old room really) & Pete, Scott, & Paul (our maintenance men) did a great job in getting my room ready for me. They stripped the room of the carpet - laid the linoleum tiles, painted the walls, doors, & trim & changed the lighting for me. . . not to mention moving all the art room furniture for me! (not a light move!) Heavens!, these guys deserved a lot more than just cookies!
I just wish that I could get this done each time I want to say thank you! I am so behind on my thank you notes. . . it makes my head spin sometimes. . . I am always making a ‘resolution’ that I will keep up with them each year. . . but sadly - I fall behind. So - there’s no time like the present (& to do it so publicly!) to renew my determination to catch up & keep up with my thank you(s). . . there’s no time like the present!
So, I’m starting with you! Thank you so much for visiting my blog - whether you just quietly visit (although I’d love to know you were here!) & to all of you who leave me little messages & comments - a special thanks to you. You brighten up my day with each & every comment!
So. . . have a cookie. . . on me! . . . & thank you so mcuh for stopping by!
xo!
