Okay. . . at times it’s really more like downpours. . . but I just love these summer rains.
We have had a little (& sometimes a lot of) rain for the past week or so. . . & it is so welcome here in the high desert. For one - it greatly reduces the extreme fire risk that we live with all summer until these rains come. It’s a regular thing - these late summer rains, & here in Arizona they are a part of what is called the monsoon season, where the rains come up from the gulf & bring a refreshing break. Ahhhh. . .
Just when we feel like we can’t take one more day of the 100+ degree temps - the rains come & save us. (The year when the monsoons are weak are truly depressing & the summer gets very long. . . ) But on some days - the rains really let loose (. . . kinda like right now - as I’m writing this!). . . The thunder & lightning make themselves known & wake up the skies & it pours. So I run to unplug the computers & usually I just turn them off & go watch the rain with Bailey. . . (so far he does really good with the thunder booms) - but today, I decided to share this wonderful rain time-out with you! (. . . & Bailey too. . . he’s right here beside me. . . ) So. . . we’re working on laptop battery power & want to share with you a little monsoon action.
(Even though these photos were taken yesterday - we are having a repeat ‘performance’ today. . .) Now our usually green yard (compared to the desert surrounding us) will be really, really green! Actually - with rains like we are getting this season - all of the high desert will bloom with a green coating & even the cactus will blossom again. . . it’s wonderful! (No comparisons to the green of Ireland - but it will be a subtle soft sage green that you learn to see & appreciate when you spend any time here in the southwest.)
I’m still on my quest to finish my studio & office clean out/clean up. . . So far I’ve de-cluttered the office, & I took some before photos - but I’m waiting to post them until I have the accessories placed can take some “after’ photos( & that won’t happen until I have the current orders done & out of the way!). But I promise I will share them with you. The studio. . . well, that’s going to take a little longer. . . It’s quite easy to pitch the piles of papers (after I carefully go through & save the stuff I know my accountant will want!). . . but to ‘weed’ through the fabric ‘stacks’. . . well, that’s a little harder.
I’ll let you know how it goes!. . . Wish me luck!
Keep safe. . . . (& dry!)
