It was the perfect journey for me to take. . . to go to Fall Quilt Market. This time I was not an exhibitor, as I have been for the past four Markets. This time I went as an attendee. . . but also with the special pleasure of having my new designs displayed in the LakeHouse Dry Goods booth. (To see more booth photos - click on the ‘Fall Market Photos’ title above.)
My dear friend, Jere’e, who is also a designer, also took this Market “off” as an exhibitor & she & I made the rounds - looking at what was going on & featured in the quilting industry. What a great glimpse we got! (btw - for those of you at the ‘blogger’ dinner - big news. . . Jere’e is seriously thinking about blogging!) It is really quite hard to see Market when you are an exhibitor, as you have a booth to tend to - & any visiting other booths is usually done in rushed spurts - as you always feel the need to return to your booth. So - for us this visit to Quilt Market - was one where we could really get a better look at what the directions of this industry are leaning towards. The quilts were wonderful, the booths were wonderful, & the new fabric lines were wonderful!
The best part of Market for me is seeing & meeting up again with friends. One the first set-up day, after a sweet greeting at the LakeHouse booth from Holly & her great team, the first folks I saw was none other than the lovely Elizabeth & her “trusty sidekick” Pam! What a wonderful start! Then each day brought new greetings with old friends & the making of new friends. (More on these - in the next few days!)
I will post more photos of Fall Market in the next few days - I promise - (& I know that there will be hundreds of other photos out there too!) - but I couldn’t let this chance go by without thanking each & every one of you who sent your well wishes & prayers for my Mom & our family. I also want to thank you for your understanding of my need to take time off from blogging for “a while”. The time was precious to me & even more so now - as Mom passed away only a few days after that post. Your thoughts & prayers have meant so much to me & I cherish each & every one. Soon (I hope) I will be able to share more with you about my Mom - there is so much I want to share about her. But for now though, time is doing it’s mending. As I walked among the quilts in the many quilt exhibits that are a part of Market & Festival, I couldn’t help but think of Mom & how she encouraged me so in my quilt designing & always let me know how proud she was of my efforts. Even up until near the end of her days here on earth, as I would bring my new quilts to her bedside she oohh’ed & ahh’ed over each of my new designs & the beautiful fabrics in them. They gave her such joy. So, as I walked among the quilts on display, I walked with Mom in my heart & together we oohh’ed & ahh’ed over them.
What comfort.
Elizabeth & Pam in Elizabeth’s beautiful ‘Late Bloomer Quilts’ booth. (I am crazy about her Vintage Christmas quilt (in the lower left) & her rooster & egg baskets in her new design called ‘Petaluma’ (center) !!!
LakeHouse Dry Goods booth, featuring Holly’s beautiful new line ‘Cherry Baby’ was an oasis of charm & precious details! (Note the Pooh bears with bibs!)
