Loves for Grandpa

By request from my Dad, we are having a nice, quiet Christmas celebration this year. With Mom’s passing - there were just a few things that he knew would be too much for him - this year. But I did get lights in the ficus trees & we do have a beautiful collection of poinsettias (a red speckled, a white, & a pink/white/red mix). I also have placed some of my collection of mercury glass around. . . so we have touches of decorating done. . . & to be honest, it has been nice.
But for us. . . our holiday this year is filled more with lots of remembering & lots of hugs. Even Bailey is doing his part - giving liberal doses of kisses. There have been countless times when I’ve gone into Dad’s bedroom to find Bailey on his lap. . . giving kisses. . . having heart-to-heart conversations with his Grandpa. . . & getting his share of loves-n-rubs. Generally. . . spreading the Joy - “Bailey style”.

One tradition that we did not forgo this year was a stocking for Bailey. I have always had a stocking for Korby - my little Cocker Spaniel that I had before Bailey - & so last year Bailey got his first stocking. He didn’t really know what it was all about last year (he was only 8 months old) - & so I wasn’t sure he would remember it this year, but I didn’t want to let a year go by as getting a stocking became such a big deal for Korby & we had such fun watching him on Christmas morning. . . it was like having a little child open their gifts.
So. . . I filled & put little Bailey’s stocking out before going to be last evening. . . & I actually forgot about it this morning. . . that is until I called Bailey to come for his kibble. . . & no Bailey. Hmmm. . . . I was going to call again - but then I thought he might be in with Dad & I didn’t want to break up any snuggle-time. . . so I went in to check. . . nope, not there. . . & then as I was coming back through the kitchen I saw this in the family room. . .

Think he remembers ? ! ?
So, I called Dad in, & this little one brought such joy & laughter to our quiet morning. . .

Needless to say, this little guy has been quite busy this morning with his new ‘Kong’ ball - as well as an occasional peanut-butter pup treat. Oh yea. . . he remembered!

I hope that you have had a wonderful celebration of the Love that came to earth on that still & silent night so many years ago. And as we celebrate the Saviors birth, may this joy & the promise that His life & love bring to us, come to our minds & heart not just during this season ~ but all year long.
Merry Christmas!
