Fifty + Three. . . (& counting)

Yesterday was my parents anniversary. Fifty-three years.
Amazing.
Although they didn’t get to go out to celebrate (Mom  - who spends most days in bed due to health issues - wasn’t having a great day) & so their “date” was postponed until today. But they spent the evening pouring over photos and the notes & scrapbooks from their wedding & honeymoon that Mom has kept. A wonderfully sweet, quiet evening - filled with wonderful memories.
I know this because my parents & I share the same house. When I was house-hunting about 8 years ago, my Dad asked about them selling their townhome & helping increase a down payment so that I could get a bigger house & they could come too. If I have learned one thing - it’s that when my Dad suggests something like that - there is a reason. And, sure enough - once we moved in - I was at the hospital at least once or twice each of the first several years. So the arrangement has been a good one. And, I know that before too long - I will be so thankful that I was able to help & be here in their later years. . . after all - they were here for me in my early years! I consider these days to be precious ones.
One of the blessings is getting to be there on an evening like last evening. Witnessing the sweetness of a relationship that has endured so many things & has prevailed with love. It’s rare. And, it’s a blessing to behold.
Here are some of the photos from their honeymoon in beautiful San Francisco!
