WELCOME to OMAD!
Together, representatives of your local Veteran/Military groups have created a special day of events to honor our local soldiers and their families! This event is titled Operation Military Appreciation Day (OMAD). OMAD is a day to honor, celebrate, and recognize our Military, Veterans, and their families for their service and sacrifice, and to raise funds for a charity which helps veterans and their families.
Please click the link in the bar on the left to get more information on the Hoosier Honor Flight.
We hope to see you at what promises to be a visually stunning and emotionally touching memorable day!
OMAD HISTORICAL INFO:
The 2008 OMAD event was held on Sunday, November 9th, 2008 beginning at 1:30pm at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
The 2008 day’s events included the American Legion Blue Star ceremony which honors the family members of soldiers who are currently serving, a Warrior’s Walk which gives families and community members a chance to show their support for our troops, and a Charity Auction to generate funds for this year’s designated charitable veteran’s organization.
There was also food and drinks available for purchase at the event.
All proceeds & donations generated at the event went to benefit Hoosier Honor Flights which gives living WWII veterans the opportunity to fly, escorted and absolutely free, to Washington D.C. to visit the WWII memorial to pay tribute and reflect on their personal experiences, the 2nd Battalion 150th Field Artillery HHB Family Readiness Group, which sends packages to deployed soldiers overseas and supports their family members during their deployment, and future years’ OMAD event days.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in helping to sponsor future years’ OMAD events, please ask them to contact the OMAD Chairperson (see contact info at left) for more information!
We, as a community, appreciate the sacrifices that our soldiers and their families make while serving our country. Together, their efforts make the United States of America a better place! We would be honored to have as many of them as possible attend future events as we feel they and their family members are all true American Heroes!
Currently serving soldiers and their families will be honored during the Blue Star Ceremony if they have registered prior to the event. All Veterans not currently serving (or those currently serving that do not register for the Blue Star ceremony) will be honored after the Blue Star ceremony, so we hope to see many of them in attendance to show their support and be honored!
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
