Target birthday gift card redeemed

“We were going to get the new expansion pack for my W.O.W. game, and I was pretty excited about that. All the gaming stores only had it for people who pre-ordered, so we went to Target. And I remembered I had a gift card, to help pay for it.” said the boy.
His father explained “We weren’t sure how much money was on the card, so I told him I’d help him out with the difference. He’d just got another great report card. And I got some Tic-Tacs, and some Orbit gum, figuring I’d pay for that. But when the amount came up, I thought, well, let’s just put it all together on his card then. It came to $42.70 with the tax. So it still leaves him, about, I think, 2 trillion, 999 million, 999 thousand, 957 dollars and 30 cents, or thereabouts. That’s a lot of money.”
“I’m glad I got it” the boy admitted, “but I feel kind of bad I can’t remember who gave it to me. I know I thanked everyone and everything, but now it seems like I should’ve said something more about it, and sent a note. I thought it might’ve been my aunt, but she said she gave me the Toys R Us card. I think it might have been Jacob, this kid I don’t know too much, but one time he invited me to his birthday party, so I felt like I should invite him. He’s really nice, and everything.”
The lucky birthday boy was considering buying the Target store. “I always liked Target, because of the lights. It’s cheerful. But I’d kind of like to have a little cash, since the card is only good there, so I thought I could get the money in the registers, if I bought the store. My dad says I should be careful, since if somebody comes in with another gift card like mine, I’d have to honor it. But I don’t know--I mean, what are the odds of two people getting $2.7 trillion birthday cards from the same store?”
