run, damn you, ruuuuuunnn!!!

Yesterday Laurel and I ran the longest I’ve ever run in my entire life! We were in the Chicago Marathon.

It was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. Having finished my first two triathlons this past summer I thought “How hard could a marathon be?” Holy crap, it was tough. It pushed me to my limit. In our training the furthest that Laurel and I ran was 20 miles. That caused my IT band in my left leg to start acting up. So on the actual marathon day the pain came back with a vengeance. This wasn’t only a physical challenge, but also a mental challenge. When you’re running for 5 hours you’ve got a lot of time to think. A lot of emotions happening too. A lot of the time I had a lump in my throat from seeing all the amazing support while running all over Chicago. It was especially cool because Laurel and I had our names on our shirts. People were actually screaming “Go Laurel & Freddie!” It was awesome.

Despite how hard it was and the fact that I can’t walk right now, I want to do another marathon. Next time I’ll train better.

I HAVE to add a big THANK YOU to all those great people that came out and supported us in the run
. Without knowing that there were people expecting to meet us at the end I might not have finished. So thank you Rick, Marianne, Nate, Karen, Sierra, Luke, Ricky, Jason and Tanya for being there and having the best signs ever for us. Also thanks to them for coming to my show the night before even though you probably didn’t get home until 2am. And also thanks to them for sharing a great pasta dinner before the show and thanks to Noah, Colleen, Jennie and Clayton for being there. You were the fire under our ass.
