Last night Laurel and I went to see Casino Royale. It was pretty exciting but I wanted it to end at least 5 times before it actually did. Anyway, it got me to thinking about all these giant castle/mansions and playing poker for 10 million dollars and driving rare, expensive automobiles (and free running around a construction site). But there are a lot less movies that talk about living in a giant trash dump. So my conclusion is that people are more likely to make movies about things that they want than about things that they could actually have.
But having slept on this idea, I realize how dumb that conclusion sounds since there are horror movies and documentaries and dramas. But nonetheless I’d much rather imagine a life of action and adventure without one monetary worry than imagine digging through trash and finding a hand grenade.
The picture above is of the flower that Laurel’s parents gave to us for Christmas. The flower is called a Paperwhite Narcissus Bulb. It’s pretty easy to grow and maintain. And to prevent it from getting too big you’re supposed to mix some alcohol in with the water. So we also got a tiny, hotel-sized bottle of vodka. So you heard it here, alcohol will stunt your growth... if you’re a flower. But it helps your posture too.
