CADOSYSTEM.COM

Welcome

A site to display my beautiful and cherished rosewood Cado System, and to locate a new owner for it. I will also offer from time to time other treasures from my eighty year life such as Steuben bar wear, Orefords, Waterford, and Baccrat crystal, leather bound sets of books, modern painting, ship prints, curios, sculptures. Most of these are of museum quality.

The rosewood was installed in an Englewood New Jersey mansion by the decorators B. Altman &Company, a prestigious Fifth avenue department store at a cost equal to the cost of a new 1967 cadillac convertible “roughly $64,000.00 in todays money” It has been moved several times and is now in a large (15’X16’) bedroom in a chicago area retirement community. It covers two and a quarter walls; approximately 36’.

The system consist of 7 panels, six wall rails, two sliding doors cabinets, one chest of four draws, and an open cabinet with two  sides and four beautiful rosewood  sliding shelves. There are 19_9” shelves and forty brackets. The cabinets are all

32.5”W x 18”D x 21”H.

This system is in vary good to excellent conditions with a few noted exceptions; the two sliding door cabinets each have a small (correctable) scar. One is an almost invisible cigaret burn from 3/4”x1/4” the other is a small dent about a size of a fingernail the open cabinet needs to be squared and glued by a furniture man. One of the panels has been cut at the floor to allow for an electric outlet. it is usually hidden and the pice cut out is included incase you want to replace it. You would be hard pressed o find all of these flaws on your own.

There is scrap wood from cutup panes which have been used to fill in around windows and to bring the unit to a wall.

Amateur Photographers (like me) usually do not get glare free photos of these units. Believe me this is truly great looking rosewood. I have always been proud to have it and you will be too.

I’m told that Brazilian rosewood is no longer available; certainly not in such a large amount. After   researching this for several months on the web I believe this might be the largest rosewood System Cado available anywhere in the world today. It is more than  twice anything I have seen in my daily visits over the last six months.

This would make a very special executive office; especially in a modern  glass tower. It  would make a lovely and impressive dining-room/library in  a hi-rise condo. It could be used in two or more rooms to create an exciting theme. Additional pieces are found on the net from time to time.                                                                                                                        If you love Mid-20th century modern, living with a rosewood System Cado will be a continuous pleasure.
