Even with the withdrawals from the BEP permitting process by Quoddy Bay LNG and Downeast LNG, I have to wonder why nobody is raising the most obvious question– what exactly is Maine’s energy policy for LNG?
We know from past experience that when policy-making is adrift and rudderless it’s left exposed to invasive opportunists, which more often bring about unintended results.
It’s time for Maine to lead by establishing a responsive energy policy, one that is underscored by renewable energy. Without a regional and ecological approach, simply allowing LNG proposals to dictate Maine’s energy policy making and future is unacceptable. We no longer live in a time where we can be so careless.
Take action today, write to your newly elected state government and demand they take another look at Governor John Baldacci’s current approach to LNG.
