Francesca Beauman is a writer, historian and television presenter.
 
Born in London in 1977, Francesca was educated at Cheltenham Ladies College then Cambridge University, graduating with a First Class degree in History.

Francesca began her career as the creator, writer and/or host (alongside her comedy partner Ania) of numerous British TV shows, including 'Ania, Fran and a Kettle of Fish' (Channel 5, 2001), 'Show Me The Funny' (Channel 4, 2002), 'Bring It On' (BBC1, 2003-4) and 'Heroes of History' (Channel 5, 2005).
Francesca’s first book, a history of the pineapple entitled ‘The Pineapple: king of fruits’ (Chatto & Windus), was published in 2005. She has appeared as the history "expert" on 'My Famous Family' (UKTV History) and 'Britain’s Best' (UKTV History), and also as a guest panelist on 'Quote Unquote' (BBC Radio 4) and ‘The Museum of Curiosity’ (BBC Radio 4). She has written articles for a number of academic journals and arts magazines, including 'Cabinet', 'Repast' and 'Petit Propos Culinaire', and reviewed books for the New Statesman and the Literary Review. 

In 2007, Francesca’s second book was published, in the U.K. as ‘The Woman’s Book: everything but the kitchen sink’ (Weidenfeld & Nicholson) and in the U.S. as ‘Everything But The Kitchen Sink: what every modern woman needs to know’ (Simon & Schuster). 

Current writing projects include ‘Shapely Ankle Preferred: a history of Lonely Hearts ads’ (Chatto & Windus) and ‘The Baby’s Book’ (Bloomsbury), which are both due out in 2010.
Francesca divides her time between London and Los Angeles.
