Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship recognizing students with exceptional individual academic and life achievements while overcoming challenges and difficulties.

The Glennis O. Sampson Memorial Scholarship
features academic scholarships of up to $2,000 based on merit and need, awarded to graduating students in Washington County.
Students considered for the scholarships will be those displaying commitment to further academic schooling, while overcoming difficulties, or a lack of focus in their lives. These scholarships will be awarded at the end of the school year in conjunction with other scholarship presentations.

As a secretary in the Washington County School District for 17 years, Glennis Sampson was a champion of the Sterling Scholar Program and other students who struggled to be successful in their educational pursuits.
Glennis was a friend to all! Her example of selfless giving is a legacy that will live on through this scholarship program and the generous donations of others who feel the same desire Glennis envisioned in helping the students of Washington County

Who is eligible to receive the Glennis O. Sampson Memorial Scholarship?
Senior students from any high school in the Washington County School District may apply for this scholarship. The focus of the selection process will include overall scholastic achievement, as well as obstacles or hardships overcome in the student’s pursuit of his or her education.
How does a student apply for this scholarship?
Scholarship applications are available at all school counselor offices, as well as the Washington County School District Office. In addition to the application, a brief essay and three letters of recommendation will be required. The application must be submitted to a school counselor, or the district office, and are due no later than March 31 for the next academic year. Click here to link to the scholarship application form.
What are the obligations of the recipient of the scholarship?
The student receiving the Glennis O. Sampson Memorial Scholarship may attend any college and must demonstrate scholastic ability during college for the first semester before payment is released to the college for the second semester.
How does a person, business, or civic organization contribute?
Donations are welcome from individuals, businesses and civic organizations. checks may be made payable to the Washington County School District Foundation. the donation is tax-deductible and the donor will receive a certificate verifying the donation. Employees of the Washington County School District may arrange with the school district business office for automatic payroll deduction.
