SO behind!!

I am so painfully behind with everything online - Blog posts are still piling up on Netvibes, email inbox is littered with flagged emails just waiting for follow-up, and blog full of readers perched on the edge of their seats waiting for my next entry - I’m pulled in a million different directions!  Here’s my attempt to catch up:
First of all, I want to apologize for my 2 Truths and a Lie post.  I hope I didn’t throw any of you off by not being true to my intentions.  I thought it would be a silly exercise to show that our family is weird.....so weird that some of you may not believe it.  Forgive me faithful readers!
On my last post I promised exciting news.....About a month ago I attended an informational meeting for the Bachelors of Social Work program in our city.  The lady running the program is sweet and she was very kind to me about my situation (you know, the fact that I’ve been on the waitlist for the Graduate School of Social Work program for the last TWO years!)  Well in the meeting she introduced me to their Student Retention lady.  This lady ROCKS.  She’s 50% convinced that she can get me an “administrative waived admissions” for THIS school year and 100% sure that she can get me in for next year.  She had me rewrite my personal statement and is going to resubmit it.  She even arranged to meet me outside of her office to go over strategies for my paper.  I’m really excited on one hand, but on the other, it’s scary to think that I might have more decisions to make.
In surrogacy news, I’ve been matched with a couple from California!  They’re a great married couple who are both doctors (one is an MD and the other is a PhD.)  One is British and the other is Korean....they are great.  We’ve chatted on iChat a few times and we will meet in person in the next couple of weeks.  The embryo transfer (they have 3 frozen embryos from a previous surrogate) could happen as soon as August.  I’ve gotten to know their other surrogate and she is super cool.  We have alot in common.  It’s all so exciting!  I went in on Tuesday for my psychological exam (to insure to them that I’m not crazy) and look at how weird this is: the psychologist is a graduate from the MSW program that I’ve been trying to get into and her hubby is in the same field that Matt wants to get into!  She was so great and when all was said and done she emailed the couple from CA and told them that I was so awesome if she (the psychologist) was in need of a gestational carrier, I would be her first choice!  For a lady who is a professional in the field of reproductive psychology and does nothing but interview surrogates, it was a real compliment.
In adoption news, I don’t know how many of you who read Melissa’s blog, but she has recently made the announcement that she has heard the call to adopt from Ghana.  Not only that, but she is being drawn to adopt HIV+.  (She jumped the gun on me by making the announcement before me!)  She and I have spoken about this at length - ever since I discovered that AAI has a newly opened HIV program.  Do you guys know where I’m going with this?  Matt and I have talked about it, and talked to our agency, and we’re also going to be requesting an HIV+ child from Ghana.  Melissa and I talk about everything, at all times, and we have been doing SO much research on HIV and raising HIV+ children.  Matt is also so excited, he came home from the library the other day with books and books on the subject.  The agency is totally on board with us and is SUPER supportive.  We’ve even gotten the green light to start our homestudy and adoption process while I’m still pregnant!
In household news, our dogs (you know you love them!) got spayed this week.  They are SO sad but are doing VERY well.  It’s been an adjustment for the kids to not try to pick them up or wrestle.  I hope that they recover soon...they kids are getting restless...not only that, but the meds the doctor gave them has given them terrible gas!  Blech!!
