Why Full Throttle Outdoors

By Chris Jones—Full Throttle Outdoors staff writer

Over the past eight years Mark Schutz and I have been involved with a faith based bass fishing tournament trail called Fishers of Men, and we have spent countless hours at sport shows talking to anglers about competitive fishing. Show after show, year after year one theme began to emerge, especially in the Midwest. For every 5 bass anglers interested in the tournaments, we would talk to 15 Walleye anglers inquiring of a possible Walleye trail. From Minneapolis to Chicago, Green Bay to Detroit, the message was loud and clear. Anglers were very interested in a faith based Walleye fishing tournament Trail.

We initially shared our news with FOM leadership, but with expanded growth in their bass divisions, a membership of more than 4,000 and an exciting new Legacy series for kids, they decided it would be best not to add a Walleye series to their plate. Mark and I were clearly disappointed but also very understanding of the situation. The impact Fishers of Men has had on the tournament scene and their commitment to sharing their faith since the late 90’s has truly been amazing! But as with most situations where God is divinely involved, the closing of one door often opens another.

As a result we have decided to take a similar message of faith, family and fishing and bring it to the Walleye world! The fruition of three years of planning: Full Throttle Outdoors! In 2008 Full Throttle Outdoors (FTO) will launch its inaugural season showcased by the Full Throttle Walleye Series. FTO will host Walleye Series tournaments in Minnesota and Wisconsin, ending the season with a tournament championship. We’re touting our Walleye Series as a premier Walleye tournament experience with a life changing message.

Here at FTO, we’re “full throttle” for faith, family & fishing, and we believe that kind of dedication to a cause is contagious in the eyes of others, effective at changing lives, and ultimately reflects how God intends life to be lived! C’mon board with Full Throttle Outdoors in 2008. You won’t be disappointed!
