DeBALIVIERE BUILDING, 1927.
For this mixed-use building, Shank designed terra cotta tiles, some unglazed and some glazed black. Dark brick was specified for the upper floors which serve as apartments. At street level are storefronts. These photographs were taken in 1980 before a less than perfect restoration. This is one of the famous early modern buildings in Saint Louis and is designated a Missouri Landmark.
