Dear Parents, Staff and Community,
I am pleased to inform you that Northfield Middle School has been selected to participate in the Caring Schools Inclusion Project (CSIP). We are one of twelve schools in NJ who have been selected.

As project team leader, I am thrilled that our Middle School will be able to participate in such an outstanding program that complements our Healthy School Initiative to improve our school climate.

Excerpt from project description: “The CSIP initiative will utilize an evidence-based character education school-wide intervention, Community of Caring (http://www.communityofcaring.org), to focus on creating a school culture that promotes the commitment and skills of school staff, students, and parents to provide opportunities for growth and development for all students…Studies have shown that schools implementing the Community of Caring intervention have demonstrated a more open and positive environment with greater acceptance and understanding of all students and improved effectiveness of collaborative relationships between teachers and students and between teachers and administrators.”
Best regards,
Carol Ferguson, Ph.D.,
Supervisor of Instruction and CSIP Team Leader
