Del.icio.us: how to set up a social bookmarking account

I’ve written about social bookmarking before. Some friends have asked me to email them an invitation to sign up for Del.icio.us and join my “network” there, but Del.icio.us doesn't have a email invite option.

Instead, first go here and sign up for an account

following the instructions and the basic tutorial.

Then go to

http://del.icio.us/MyklTrappler

and click on the link

Add MyklTrappler to your network

or simply point your cursor over to the right of this page and click on

Add me to your network

If you’re new to Del.icio.us, toy with it, look around their site, click through some of my bookmarks and tags, to get a feel for how it all works.

That will get you started. Where you go from there kinda depends on you and how you use bookmarks, what you do on the web, how you use computers, and the ways you connect with other people. There are a lot of options in your Settings section.

I wrote this to be a quick explanation (not an exhaustive one). Please let me know if it’s unclear or you have other questions. I’m always curious to hear comments or complaints from tech shy people, especially when they try these new social internet services. Theoretically, these tools are being designed for ordinary people. Let me know in what ways they confuse or impress you. You might inspire me to provide additional tips.
