Photoshop Elements 6 is now available to Apple Mac users. My Photoshop Elements Maximum Performance book that was released at the start of the year supports Mac users (even though the book pre-dates the software). All of the projects in the book can be completed by Mac users so long as they remember to switch the Ctrl key with the Command key (the one next to the spacebar with the apple on it) when following the keyboard shortcuts in the text.
The DVD has over 6 hours of movies to support the projects and all the images are available as high resolution files. Also on the DVD is a set of Photoshop actions that are designed to get the best possible performance from your software and fast-track some of the typical editing procedures
The installer on the DVD for the Maximum Performance actions was designed to work with Windows XP and Windows Vista. The actions can, however, be manually inserted into the required folders by following the steps below.
Installing the Maximum Performance actions (available on the book’s supporting DVD) for Macintosh users of Photoshop Elements 6
The following steps will ensure that Mac users of Elements 6 can take advantage of the automated actions that are shipped with my Elements 6 book.
1. Copy the .xml files on the DVD to the following location:
Hard Drive > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Photoshop Elements > 6.0 > Locale > en_US (or installed locale) > Photo Creations Metadata > photo effects
2. Copy the .atn (action) and .png (thumb) files on the DVD to the following location:
Hard Drive > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Photoshop Elements > 6.0 > Photo Creations > photo effects
3. Delete the ‘MediaDatabase.db3 file in the ‘en_US’ (or installed locale) folder
4. Delete the ThumbsDarabase.db3 file in the ‘6.0’ folder
5. Restart the software and wait for the database to be rebuilt
Note > The Maximum Performance actions are designed to work for English Language editions of the software only.
