September 22, 2008 A long time without an update, but there is some new news to report. Joe Morris has finished mastering the banjo CD, and I hope to have it available by the middle of October. Those of you that have already ordered it, keep your eyes peeled for your copy. All copies pre-ordered will get a special surprise with their order (can’t say what it is quite yet though). Josh Sinton of Ideal Bread has informed me that he is working on booking some weekends for the group, so be on the lookout for your chance to see the band outside of NYC. I have also created a release page for the MAP CD.
July 14, 2008 Thanks to the musicians and attendees for making the KMB Festival success. Josh Sinton and my good friend Bill Bartholomew were on the ground at the event, and Josh deserves more thanks than can be expressed for his hard work on the whole event. We’re hoping to do it again next year, with our expanding roster. Yes, an expanding roster. We have confirmed another release on KMB, the second disc from Tatsuya Nakatani’s MAP trio. MAP is Nakatani on percussion, Mary Halvorson on guitar and Reuben Radding on bass. The group’s previous effort featured Clayton Thomas on bass. The disc will be released in February, at the same time as the Roy Campbell, Jr. CD. I will create a release page as soon as I have a chance. One other bit of news is the Ideal Bread disc was reviewed in the June issue of WIRE, #292, as well as on Bagatellen, Citizen Jazz and in Cadence. See the release page for the text.
May 22, 2008 Now available, advance tickets for the KMB Festival (see below for details). By buying your tickets online, you can just come to the show with photo ID and we’ll give you a card that will allow you to come and go throughout the evening. Also, Bill Shoemaker of pointofdeparture.org has written a great review for the Ideal Bread disc, check it out on the release page.
