Discovery in the Garden

Friday, June 5

Discovery in the Garden Tours are self guided tours. Tickets unfold to show a map of the garden tour area, and directional signs are out on June 5th to assist visitors in locating the gardens. Guests may choose to start at any of the gardens or at the boutique and luncheon at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church.

Gardens are signed as House #1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Brief descriptions are included in the ticket. Programs with detailed descriptions are available at each of the houses and at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church. Garden hostesses who are familiar with the gardens will be on site to answer questions.

The Discovery in the Garden Junior Committee
was established in 2004, as an opportunity for science and nature-loving children to become involved in the signature fundraiser for The Discovery Museum. The children quickly became an important and well-loved part of the Tour, serving an important function in helping at the boutiques and luncheon on the grounds of the Trinity Church in Southport. In their distinctive green aprons, emblazoned with “Discovery in the Garden Junior Committee,” they add a splash of color, youth and charm to the delightful day. Payton Garrity is this year’s Junior Committee Chair.  Committee members are Jessica Ferrante, Colleen Lambert, Kelly Zemola, Stephanie McCarthy and Kate Thompson .
