This award was created by Archaeological Geology Division of the Geological Society of America to encourage the presentation of research papers by graduate students at the technical sessions of the Division, which are held at the annual meeting of the GSA. The award is intended to defray a portion of the expenses involved with attending and presenting a paper at the annual GSA meeting.
Eligibility: Applications will be accepted from currently enrolled students. Residents of the US and foreign countries are eligible. Membership in the GSA and AGD are not required.
Awards: Awards will be made by the awards committee of the Archaeological Geology Division. Awards are up to $650, which will be sent to the awardee by the GSA following the committee's final selection. More than one award will be made if funds are available. If no meritorious proposals are received, the committee may elect to make no award for that year. The decisions concerning awards are made solely by the committee and are final.
Evaluation Criteria: Proposals will be evaluated and ranked by committee members based on the following: 1) Scientific merit of the research topic, 2) Quality of the data base, and 3) Clarity of the 400 word abstract.
