Postdoc in Geomorphology/Remote Sensing/Geoarcheology
The main goal of the recently established Centre for Archaeological Science at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) is to support archaeological research projects with an extensive and in-depth experience built up in the Faculties of Exact Sciences and Engineering in Leuven. This expertise is also made available to all other archaeological projects in Flanders and beyond. The CAS is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral researcher in geomorphology from 2007 onwards. Candidates should have professional experience in geo-archaeology or geomorphology, and a good record of international publications. Knowledge of remote sensing and GIS is essential. The primary responsibilities of this position includes the application of remote sensing techniques for archaeological surveying and landscape studies, spatial modeling of landscape dynamics in a GIS-environment, preparation of publications, participation in fieldwork in the context of archaeological excavation sites by the K.U.Leuven (mainly in Turkey, Egypt and Syria), including the geomorphologic analysis of the environment surrounding the sites.
