In this series I create images that mimic microscopic structure in some form. I am dealing with repetition, units and a system of organization

As a youngster, I received a microscope for my birthday and became extremely intrigued with the underlying structure of seemingly solid objects and substances. This led to an intensive series of classes in school ranging from biology to botany to zoology. I did many sketches of differing cellular specimens while peering through the higher powered microscopes at school. I coupled this with every art class available at the time.

There are evolutionary processes going on in both art and science; there is discovery, action and communication. There is innovation. Both can be startlingly beautiful. I approach art making, I feel, much like a scientist approaches a problem to solve. We both strive for the elegant.
