welcome
It is great to have you visit my site. I am very excited about
this missions trip and all God is about to do, not only in my life,
but the people we will be touching for Christ and in your life as
well. We are in this together. I may be the one going, but you are
the ones supporting and praying. Thank you for coming with me on
this missions journey.
For those of you who may not have heard how God opened the doors
for me to go to Ecuador, here is my story:
In the beginning of 2003, when I heard about the missions trip
to Ecuador with my church, I felt the Lord compelling me to go.
I knew the Lord wanted me to go to stretch me. I had never had a
desire to go to South America before, but I knew God definitely
wanted me to go. The trip was in April and it was a 10 day missions
trip to work on construction at the Bible School/TV station in Cuenca,
Ecuador. When we started hearing more about the TV station, I was
wowed. We were privileged to be there when the TV Station, Unsión
Television, started airing for the first time. It was then that
my heart was captivated by how they were reaching lives in Cuenca.
I knew I wanted to go back and help in some way. June/July 2004,
I was able to go back for five weeks to help create the Counseling
Center web site. It was an awesome experience. I was there with
4 interns from the States. I was so thankful they were there!!!
They knew enough Spanish to get around and I knew 2 phrases and
a handful of words, which wasn't going to help much. I knew then
if I ever went back I would have to learn Spanish. Well, I didn't
think I would learn Spanish, so I thought my time down there was
finished. Well in December 2004, the missionary who started the
Station, Bill McDonald, asked me to pray about coming down and be
their in-house Graphic Designer for one to two years. After much
prayer and talking to some wise advisors in my life, I decided to
send in my application for a Missionary Associate. In August 2005,
I was approved by the World Missions department to go and serve
at Unsión Television Network in Quito, Ecuador, as a Graphic
Designer. I arrived in Quito in July 2006.
I finished my first year this July 2007. It was an awesome year.
From July 2007 until May 2008, I was in the States to raise needed
funds for my 2nd year. My 2nd year I have shifted my work a little
and am helping not only Unsion Foundation but also other missionaries
who have graphics work I can help them with. I am also a small group
leader at my church in Quito. Yes, it is in Spanish and a challenge
since I am not fluent, but God is gracious.
