Dear Christ Church Family,

My family and I thank you for walking with us these past 2 years and 4 months.  You all have become very dear to us and this decision to close did not come easily.  We saw many miracles and answered prayers.  Our decision to press on after Christ Church, San Antonio recommended closing and withdrew their support was a step of faith.  This step seemed to be confirmed with the provision of the chapel at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children and the surplus in our bank account in December of 2007.  However, in 2008 we never seemed to gain traction.  We ended the year with declining attendance and not enough pledges to continue with a full time priest.  As I reflected on our situation and discussed it with the bishop it seemed clear that this great adventure should come to an end.

I hope you will find another church home where you will continue to grow in your faith.  I can recommend St. Paul Lutheran Church (The Red Roof Church) on highway 281 in Bulverde where my friend Andy Taylor is the pastor.  Pastor Andy attended the same seminary as I did.  The nearest Episcopal churches are St. John’s Church in New Braunfels, St. Thomas Church near highways 1604 and 281, St. Francis Church on the north side of Canyon Lake, and St. Helena’s Church in Boerne.  For more information on these churches click here to go to the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas website and scroll down to “Find a Church”.

Our last Sunday will be March 1st.  I hope to see you all there as we celebrate over two years of ministry together.

God bless you.

In Christ’s love,

The Rev. Eric Fenton
