Oma’s Birthday
Can you believe a Thanksgiving dinner for lunch on a 99° day? Granted, it was a bit cooler when we first hatched this plan, Oma asking whether we might be willing to roast a turkey for her. Of course! Invite a few friends (like Heinz, Sigrun, and Helga) and you’ve got a pretty nice party on your hands. Mary spent the morning in a hot (hot hot) kitchen. The food was really wonderful! A few fans kept the dining room cool enough to enjoy it. I think Oma was honestly surprised at how much fun we all had. The surprises kept coming as Dagmar’s yellow roses arrived later in the afternoon. It was a wonderful day, Alex and Mary both share their own stories. We’re in for a heat wave to last at least the rest of the week, but this turned out to be a great way to spend the hottest day of the year. ...Eric
