Welcome to the the days of GrandPa’s Fiddle

County Fairs Libraries, Historical Villages and many Festivals love Ed’s “GrandPa’s Fiddle show because it is educational, interactive, musical and tells the truth about the music and life of the good old days of early America

Jehile Kirkhuff, large picture above, represents the GrandPa to many in the Old-Time Fiddle world. This site will unfold the story, music and philosophy of this legendary Man and Fiddler from Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania USA.

And it’s not just about Jehile but the world of the Fiddler from the “old countries”  who came to America and brought their Fiddles and time tested melodies of joy and danceability. It includes all races, even those who came from a country that did not natively have this music but many immigrants fell in love with it here and  added their own “spice” to the melodies. This is evident in the Alabama (USA) history of Black Fiddlers, who were the preferred Fiddlers at dances in many areas of the state.

This is an interesting look into this diverse world of the Old-Time Fiddler.

If you have information about this music please email me and let me evaluate it and, perhaps, add it to this site; or add this site to your site through a link.

From the days when many families were Farm Families with gardens, animals, hay in the Barn, County Fairs, Quilts, Homemade, well, everything. The Fiddle was an instrument of joy. Dances happened every week or more often.

We worked hard and “got the job done” as independent business men and women
