A dread once told me his philosophy on reggae music. He believed that because reggae was created in warm, sunny places, that it was best received and appreciated in that kind of weather. For some reason that philosophy has stuck with me and I find that I tend to listen to reggae mostly in the spring and summer months. So, as the gray haze of another Northwest winter gives way to the first signs of spring, I find myself reachin' for that reggae vibe again.

The ninth episode from Edubious Compilations is a springtime exploration into reggae and dub. In this mix you'll find roots, dancehall, old-school and modern "electronic" dub. Of course there is a track to the mystic man, Bob Marley, but you'll also hear Buju Banton, Irsrael Vibration, Black Uhuru, Cotton Belly, Gregory Issacs, Steel Pulse, Alaine, Aswad, Theivery Corporation, the original dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson, The Mediations, Marlon Asher and more.
