Ed Carson has been painting for more than 25 years. He has traveled the U.S., Canada, and Europe, painting and teaching. For nearly twenty years he and his wife Sharon, also an artist, lived in Rockport, Massachusetts where they maintained their studio and gallery. In October 2004 they moved to the Eclipse Mill Artist Lofts & Galleries in North Adams, Massachusetts. The Eclipse Mill is a former textile mill that has been converted to 40 artist live/work lofts. Resident artists participate in open studios and offer classes and public programs (www.eclipsemill.com).

Ed conducts workshops, classes, lectures, painting demonstrations for various art groups, and juries art shows. For many years he was a member of the teaching staff at the Rockport Art Association. Ed paints landscape and still life, and works both in oils and acrylics. He prefers the spontaneity and vigor of the quickly painted picture over the longer more studied approach. When he’s not painting he’s probably playing chess.
