This all roads race has been designed to link three beautiful River Towns along the Susquehanna.  At the start of the race participants will encounter Danville’s historic Mill Street shopping district. From this historic beginning runners will then travel on Bloom Road past the very modern Geisinger Medical Center Campus.  Runners will continue on Bloom Road for the next 5+ miles of the route.  The first climb is found on Quarry Road around mile 8.  Runners will pick-up another 200’ in elevation in this mile.  After that it is all down hill...almost.

The course will remain relatively level past the half way point and along the Susquehanna River.  The race will end at the Danville Soccer Park in an open venue where fans can see the last half mile.

After the race please allow time to hang around finishing area offered by Danville’s River front Soccer park and State Hospital grounds.  Food, refreshments, music and celebration will await you.

River Towns Marathon

The the race will be conducted on Closed roads for the first 8 miles of the race.  The closures are scheduled using 5 minute miles for the beginning of the closure and 12 minute miles as the end of the closure.  8 miles should give the racers plenty of time to spread out into single file and stay on the shoulder of the road.  From the 8th mile on, all roads will be open, but fully supported at the few intersections and crossings.  These roads are rural and beautiful.  Traffic is not a concern.

Roving support vehicles will be seen frequently along the route.
