One Summary of The Ride:
 Let the truth be told:
 - Some left early because they are a blight on society and do not work for a living.
These people are old and continue to exist mostly to heckle the working class.
 - Others left whenever but they where not with us
 - X/Runt, Shadow, Charlie/Peggy, Nascar/Kimberly followed B-Man/B-Girl out of
Chevron at appointed time on Thursday.
 - Chrous of 'I am on vacation, vacation, I am on vacation' rang from the pack
 - B-Man immediately let us into rush hour traffic.  Pack scoffed since we were on vacation.
 - Dallas was escaped and pace quickened
 - Brief discussion on definitions of pace held at first stop:
     - stately       =  < 70
     - brisk         = 70 - 80
     - spirited     = 75 - 85
     - bracing     = 80 - 90
     - Dark Side = WFO
 - B-Man masterfully lead pack at spirited pace down something, another road, a turn
here, etc.  (X was on vacation and not paying attention)
 - B-Man demonstrated:
     - enter turn
     - scrape
     - bounce 3 times to white line
     - recover before white pickup occupied same space as B-Bike
for amusement of pack and B-Girl.  (Most of pack was out of line of sight so this
   skillful demonstration was wasted.
 - Cooper's for lunch.  Grumbling from fender fluff about lack of chicken and sanitary
conditions were ignored as pack protein loaded.
 - Fredricksburg.  'Let's go to Lukenbach to see the brick'
 -  Siiiiiigh.  No brick.  Mayor explains that brick book has been taken home by
Sheriff and we need to come back.  Pack mutters and leaves in roar.
 - Pass time talking/drinking/sleeping until it is time to ride.
 - Awake.  Life is good.
 - Standard milling around as subpacks form and rumble off:  Battle cry of 'Let's do the
3's" brings joy to Pack minus Charlie/Peggy.
 - X leads pack out at brisk pace down 16, 337, 336, 41, 335, 55, uturn, 55, something,
1050, something, something.  Life is great.
 - Last year's Magnificant 7 are approached as the Four Horseman carve the trail.
 - Traditional "Beer in Bandera" is refreshing
 - Pass time talking/drinking/sleeping until it is time to ride.
 - Awake.  Life is good.
 - Kimberly announces she is shopping.  B-Girl follows suit.  Trouble.
 - Nascar leads expanded pack out with B-Man and Rev/Dawn in hot pursuit.
 - Pace becomes bracing
 - Rev demonstrates how to grind spring off a kickstand resulting in kickstand
dropping straight.  X is unimpressed and signals for stop.  Confusion erupts as
   pack pulls to to safety.
 - After first gas stop, Viper and Tallboy join first group as Nascar goes for Dark Side.
Nascar is giggling/teeheeing like a school girl,  B-Man is twitching like an epileptic,
Rev is muttering he wants a piece of this solo, Tallboy is asleep in the BU but passing
everything in site.  X/Runt and Viper totter along at staely pace.
 - Tallboy demonstrates how to ride the gravel between road and guardrail.  Pack misses
it because they are looking to see if he can be taken on the inside.
 - Camp Wood (May the name be cursed).
 - Viper swoops around car on right berm.  X has no choice but to follow his wingman.
Tire Gods frown on X and 2.3 miles later SnakeBit wobbles to side of road with a flat.
 - Runts reminder that we are on vacation is not well received.
 - Olmdan, Slash, Shadow, Ralph pull in as Dark Side disappear.
 - Viper and Ralph go to town for help.  Ralph returns shortly with news that Tire Gods
hate walking as well as rolling snakes.  X's grunt of 'serves him right' is bitter, petty,
    and meanspirited but .......
 - Multiple phone calls later, tow truck will be there in 15 minutes.
 - 'My boys will be back for me' is chanted many times as Dark Side fail to return for the
   fallen.
 - 2 Hours later:
    - tow truck is still 15 minutes away
    - Dark Side return with various stories of:
        - Dust clouds
        - Packs of BMWS being mistaken for the fallen
        - various other excuses of why they left
X silently vows to shun the Dark Side after they help him get bike fixed
 - X fumes as Viper/Tow Truck driver happily tell stories on long ride to San Antonio
 - Alamo Cycles is a BIIIGGG dealership and after skillful negotiation by Viper agree
   to fix bikes
 - The Trailers arrive amid must teeheeing (Nascar)/twitching (B-Man)/head shaking
(Shadow/Runt) with stories of WFO for 30 miles.
 - Pass time talking/drinking/sleeping until it is time to ride.
 - Awake.  Life is good.
 - Shadow leads pack home at brisk pace.  Roads are good.
 - Awake.  How many days till Arkansas?

24 Riders/Bikes + 7 Backseaters = 31 members of the pack
4 Fencesitters/Hopefuls who need our encouragement
2 Traitors to the Pack who need to be shunned

Wiliedog, does this mean you will be modeling some more "Decorative Drawers"
as you have for the last two years with the winning style being pictured at
http://www.vroc.org/pics/1998-05/jpg00028.jpg ?
Please note, it took a lot of beers and exceptionally poor eyesight to get
him to dress up in these duds.

Historical note: The first VROC  HCR "brick in the wall" at Luckenbach was
actually misspelled as UROC. Rumor has it that this was due to poor
handwriting and possibly too much beer  by the purchaser of the brick.

The 3rd annual Texas Hill Country ride planning has
begun (and ended, we do not plan much).

 HCR III
 Fredricksburg, TX
 April 06 - 09
  - Thursday 06 - Ride In
  - Friday   07 - Ride
  - Sat      08 - Ride
  - Sun      09 - Ride Home
 Lodging:
  - Slash has reserved 25 rooms on the 6th of April through the 8th at:
     Save Inn Motel
     514 E Main
     Frederickburg, Tx
     (830) 997-6568
two Kingsize beds at $64 a night
two double beds at $68.50 a night
They are holding the rooms until March 1 and then will let other
people book.  Rooms can be cancelled up to 48 hours prior to arrive.
  - Tell them you are with DFWVROC group when you call.

 Notes:
  - I (until/unless someone else decides to take over for the good
of the event) will be maintaining the attendee list.  Email me
    with name(s)/dates of attendees.
  - Strong push to base ride out of Kerrville was thwarted by concerns
over lack of walking distance eateries and lack of places for
nonriding SOs to pass the days waiting for pack's return.  (Do
not ask any questions, I do not understand the concerns either.
They sell beef jerky at the Texaco and have a video arcade in
    town.)
  - For those not familiar with HCR:
     - HCR I
       - Organizer: Jess O Skaggs.  Dropped off list shortly after
due to reoccurring nightmares caused by pressure of event
leadership (He decided Harley guys did not whine as much as
         DFWVROCers)
       - T-Shirts and Caps were distributed
       - WDawg/Moxie introduced us to Mudbugs.  (Tasty critter that
takes more calories to peel than you get when you consume)
       - Ol' Crusier added some distinctive scratchs to his new Nomad.
       - Superman lead pack back 281 at 35 MPH.  (Pack was confused
since they had never seen each other at this speed.)
       - Concept of 'Water Crossing' was demonstated many times.
(Pack was appreciative but ready to dry out.)
       - MasterBlaster sported the 'Candy Cane Face'.  (650 miles,
Texas sun, no sunblock, light skin, skull cap, you figure
         it out.)
       - Fun was had by all.
     - HCR II
       - Organizer: Coyote.  Applied knowlege gained from Jess by
splitting pack into small groups and making one of them just
him.  (Hard to hear pack whine when you are 20 miles away.)
       - Mudbug Feast II
       - The Magnificant Seven (Oldman, Slash, Loop, Big Dawg, NoNic,
Nascar, X) flowed through the hillside on Friday.  (Terry
became Nacsar after "I could have taken you on the inside
of that curve" was uttered with no smile and fanatical
         intensity)
       - Chewy arrived Sat with icicles dripping after 3:00 AM flight
from Dallas.  After a case of Diet Pepsi, he lead subpack on
spirited ride out 337.  (Vulcan definition of "spirited" -
'If it ain't scraping or spinning or pegged, you got more
         throttle left'.)
       - Stingray took a ride through the Bluebonnets while Loop
         pondered jumping Deer Canyon.
       - Fun was had by all.

There have been requests (pack has whined) to add some more
organization and event planning to HCR III.  Two options are being
 considered:
  Option 1:
   - Rider numbers will be issued/pinned to the back of all rider
     attire to allow easy identification
   - Pack will be broken into groups of 6, each with a designated
     subpack leader.
   - Subpacks will maintain 5 minute spacing at all times.  Failure
to do so will result in removal of chrome.  Repeated incidents
will result in lowering of rev limiter.
   - All riders will assemble by 9:17 each morning for subpack
assignments and detailed route distribution.  All riders
out by 9:28 and in by 3:49.
   - Routes will have clearly marked bathroom, gas, and food stops.
No segment of the route will be longer than 25 miles.
  Option 2:
   - Mill aimlessley each morning watching for people who have
scraps of paper clipped to windshield bags (These scraps are
very rare and are called 'directions'.)
   - It will be warming nicely.
   - 'Ride your own ride' will be repeated multiple times.  (This means
ride to your own level, do not try to stay with the idiot in
front of you, the nut behind you will not run you down if you
slow for the curve, be responsible for your own actions, etc).
   - After much confusion and some hurt feelings, pack will self divide
into subpacks which will roar off with vigor and confidence.
   - (There is a rumor that some kindhearted pack members have agreed
to lead some of the subpacks.  Details later)
   - Subpack will regather at some time just before dark to trade lies
concerning speed, tickets, distance, beauty, etc.

In a close ballot, option 2 has been selected.

Let me know if you are in.  Website will contain roster.
