The Olympic Peninsula is known for recreational activities from mountain climbing atop Mt. Olympus to surfing in La Push. Less well known, but more ardently pursued by residents and frequent visitors are the following:
1. Grateful gasps of gratitude upon crossing the Hood Canal Bridge after a trip to "the other side"; 2. gazing in awe at an eagle gliding by in slow motion; 3. walking on the beach at Fort Worden State Park and find yourself swaying to the ebb and flow of the kelp beds; 4. driving on Beaver Valley Road and straining to see if any new calves have been born to the buffalo herd; 5, trying to guess which Beaver Valley farm is the original Egg & I homestead written of in Betty McDonald's book. ( Who said exercise can't be mental?)
