I further point out that a combustive fuel such as ethanol is fundamentally vastly less efficient and higher-emission than, say, water fuel cells, which have their own problems of the energy sunk into fabbing them, likely impossible absent a fossil fuel economy. But maybe an ethanol infrastructure could facilitate fuel cell fabbing (especially if metal-free), preserving the most efficient method of transportation.

The President and the congress ended the prohibition but there was a need to employ officers who were in this often profitable business. New Bureau of Narcotics (FBN) within the US Treasury Department was established and since 1930 Harry Jacob Anslinger was very able commissioner (until 1962). Competition with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) which was under the management of devious and secretive J. Edgar Hoover resulted in the fight for supremacy between these two bureaucratic fiefdoms. While Hoover was targeting as a chief enemy of Americans Nazis and Communists, Anslinger mobilized press and judiciary to fight narcotic use and trading. William Randolph Hearst, well known racist, blamed Mexican immigrants and negroes for marijuana drug culture (before 1930 Americans knew only hemp, not marijuana). Prosecutions initiated by FBN provided badly needed revenue for depressed economy (these were taxation offences, not yet criminal). But sensation manufacturing press invented association of violence, sex and promiscuity among the users of marijuana while Lammont Du Pont needed strict laws against hemp growing because new invention of nylon could replace naturally produced hemp fibers.

US law mandates irradiation of any hemp seed, so it’s literally impossible to acquire truly raw, healthy, natural, sproutable, unprocessed industrial hemp seed in America today! That’s the land of the free, for ya. They’re so afraid it’ll “turn into” marijuana they pretend like it’ll magically just happen from a proven-THC-free parent! Compare the brain-dead, backward, fight-or-flight panic of blockheaded Islamic elders’ banning the letter “X” for looking “too much” like a cross!
