Welcome to Dylan Wiliam’s

(other) website

Inside the Black Box, and other booklets containing ideas about how to improve formative assessment in primary schools, and in specific subjects in secondary schools, are now available from GL Assessment. Substantial discounts (up to 40%) are available for bulk orders of 20, 50 or 100 copies, and bulk orders can include different titles. Order forms are available here (bulk discount offer expires on 31 December 2009).

My ‘official’ web-site is now at the Institute of Education, University of London.  However, that web-site is not under my direct control, and so is hard for me to keep up-to-date. That is why all the important stuff is here. You can email me at dylanwiliam@mac.com.

New publications

Embedding formative assessment, a professional development pack for schools, is available from the SSAT’s e-shop. The pack is a collaboration between Siobhán Leahy, head of Edmonton County School, Enfield, and Dylan Wiliam, and contains all the material needed to run a professional development day, together with a complete set of materials for running nine monthly follow-up workshops. Further details can be found here.

Assessment for learning: why, what and how is a short (40 page) booklet outlining why assessment for learning is important, what it is, and how we can implement it in schools. Order forms are available here.
