Today was a special day because the Trails Committee workparty completed the connection from Blakely Harbor through to Ft. Ward State Park. The group were working in the vicinity of the fence on the boundary of Ft. Ward.
While the official ceremony celebrating the cooperation between Washington State Parks, Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park District, the South Bainbridge Sewer District, Kelly Samson, and the City of Bainbridge Island will not be for another few months, we can now walk from Blakely Harbor to the beach at Ft. Ward completely on beautiful trails.
While I was there taking pictures, the group moved a large boulder out of the center of the path. No, it’s not just a big pig pile, you can see the boulder left of center the group are muscling aside.
They also moved a large log out of the path.
All of us on Bainbridge give a big THANKS to all the volunteers.
