Kappa Kappa Psi Declares November as the National Month of Musicianship!
Since Kappa Kappa Psi was found in November, we have declared it our month to celebrate. We will be celebrating music and the performance of good music by promoting the recitals in the ASU music department for November, putting on different activities to promote music, and several other different services to well being musicianship. Here’s a schedule of what’s going on in November:
Reading Band Nov. 30th, 5 pm
A reading band is a great opportunity for musicians of all types to get together for an hour or so and play through music that they enjoy just for the sake of playing. You don’t need have great abilities at your instrument just a love for playing it. So come join us in the Carr E.F.A. building room 134, the “Band Hall”, for a great time among musicians.
Founder’s Day Celebration Nov. 27th, all day
On November 27, 1919, ten members of the band at Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, now Oklahoma State University, along with their band director were granted a charter for “Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Fraternity for College Bandsmen.” So on this day every year we take the time to celebrate the efforts put forth by our founders to create a greater interest in band music. We will have cake in the “Spine” of the Carr E.F.A. building all day long, so come by and find out what we’re all about.
Conducting Lab
“To provide a pleasant and helpful social environment for all engaged in college band work...” that’s what our fifth purpose states. We stand for this purpose in many ways, and one of those ways is by giving music majors a chance to get conducting experience in a less stressful environment than that of a high school band hall. If you want a chance to conduct in front a great group a musicians, come to this conducting lab. (date and time will be announced a.s.a.p.)
