i lovephotography : the english and food
i found it quite difficult to shoot people with food especially typical english food, however i found vera and madge at a church event and when i saw these huge cakes they had baked i thought heres a picture, so i asked them to hold the cakes on the palms of there hands and said they looked gorgeous so why dont you ...............try shooting your mum of a friend with a cake, it just makes people giggle holding a cake like this

Hello there again, i thought i would show you some pictures i took last week, as i was asked by a french magazine Gala, to photograph english people with food and it made some interesting pictures, i would like to show you how people with food, can make an interesting subject to shoot people with and make people laugh and bring peoples personality out a lot, i think this proves that when you take people out of their daily routine it brings them to life
You would not generally shoot a member of your family with a plate of food however it can make great pictures. I went to a cafe and did two pictures of this lady Peggy, so take your gran or a friend to a cafe and shoot them like this. This chef and nurse walking quickly with food, walking makes people laugh so try it yourself, make sure they are walking quick though
So after a few days i found various people to shoot with food for the french magazine, i spotted this lady laying out a picnic, and was interested that she had given her husband exactly the same amount of vegetables ,very english i thought even close ups of english food are interesting. Simply things like this lad clearing the table make a nice picture, shooting a picnic from above here is very english food picture too, then the squeezing a tea bag and jewelery on the hand picture is a such a typical english picture

as i was shooting this feature for the french magazine,i began to realise that close ups of english food on its own made interesting pictures such as the hand with all the rings and bracelets with the bacon, and even adverts for for food are good to shoot, as the french have different adverts, also these pictures of adverts will be used in books and postcards in 30 years time as i will put them in the press association picture library, in our industry these type of pictures are called stock and you can shoot them and put them in a picture library
So i hope these pictures inspire you to shoot friends and also people you do not know with food, go and ask people to take their picture this is good for confidence building , you can say you are shooting the english and food for a magazine, i am suggesting this subject to you as its not an easy subject and will test you and make you really look for pictures and will improve you as a photographer............good luck try to shoot 50 good food pictures, from your family and friends to strangers in a cafe as i have, and close ups of food too,and adverts too ......
