Visions in Blue

A poem that describes a patriotic ceremony held at the Air Force Academy. This poem tells about the emotions the author feels watching the thousands of cadets dressed in blue, lined up on the Terrazzo. It was a foggy day while squadron leaders yelled “Absent, sir” in response to a roll call of Academy graduates who died in service. After the roll call, cadets played Taps and suddenly the fog cleared just in time for jets to roar by above in a stunning formation.

This poem is dedicated to all the troops fighting to defend our great nation. It is also dedicated to Dana's brother who is a true hero serving in the Air Force and Dana’s dad who served his country with honor and integrity for many years.

This poem will be featured in a future poetry card that will inspire patriotism and gratitude, especially for our service men and women who sacrifice their lives so we can be safe and free. It will be accompanied by art of the grand setting of the Academy and its beautiful, powerful jets.

The poem is currently accompanied by Ann Neal’s “Will It Rain?” watercolor painting.../Featured%20Artist.htmlshapeimage_2_link_0
