Words of a Geek

Founded in the mid 1940’s after World War II,  as a bicycle manufacturer.  In the early 1970’s however, they began building motor scooters.  In the 1980’s Aprilia expanded into other motorcycles, and while today they still make scooters, they are better known for their other motorcycle products.

In the US, Aprilia offers a scaled down line of products including just two models officially, the SR50 R, a 50cc small wheel scooter, and the Scarabeo line which ranges from 50cc to the maxi-500cc.

Now owned by Piaggio, Aprilia is just one of the italian products that are all related, Piaggio, Vespa and Aprilia, and from anecdotal evidence, they all share some of the same issues high prices & poor parts availability with excellent visual and performance touches.
