Welcome to TherapySafetyNet.org, a new project designed to address the mental health needs of uninsured New Yorkers.
Our organizing vision is for every New Yorker to have the opportunity to receive quality mental health care at an affordable fee.
If you are a psychologist, psychoanalyst, social worker, or other licensed mental health professional in private practice in New York, we invite you to join us via the secure, encrypted application form:
Joining our network may provide you an organized way to offer needed services, build your practice, and gain on-line visibility.
Your participation requires you to offer a reduced fee of at least 25% below your usual fee to eligible clients. You may choose the number of clients that you are willing to see at the reduced rate.
As an independent practitioner, you will always maintain complete control of your private practice.
Once you are a member of our professional network, you may receive referrals in two ways:

Prospective clients may inquire online about our services, and a member of our network will then determine their eligibility. When a client is eligible for reduced fee services and you have corresponding openings in your caseload, you may receive the referral. -
Prospective clients may contact you directly from your profile in the Therapist Directory. It will then be your responsibility to verify their eligibility for a reduced rate. When you accept a client into your practice from TherapySafetyNet, we ask that you notify us so we may adjust accordingly your current number of reduced fee openings in your practice listing.
We encourage you to apply by completing the Therapist Application. You will be asked about your professional standing and liability coverage. You will also be asked to enter information about your practice as you wish it to appear in our Therapist Directory.

Therapist Dues: Update
Starting October 9, 2007, we have begun to assess annual dues in the amount of $50 for Manhattan therapists joining the network. During the remainder of our introductory launch period, dues will be waived for therapists practicing in the other four boroughs and other regions of New York State. You may choose to make a voluntary financial contribution to support the work we are doing and/or volunteer your time and expertise in other ways to realize our vision for every New Yorker to have the opportunity to receive quality mental health care at an affordable fee.
