ABS Traction OFF, This modification will shut down the electronic traction control by a switch located in the cab. The electronics of the ABS are run through the factory fuse box closest to the firewall. We will need to remove the fuse box to access the wires to complete this mod.

STEP 1
Locate your preferred location for mounting the switch. Choose a location that will be cheep to replace if you trade or sell the vehicle. Also look behind and around your mount location for obstructions, depth, metal and ease of running the wires. Personally i chose the gauge cluster bezel. These instructions will be based on this location.

Step 2
Remove the dash bezel by pulling forward. You might be able to wedge your finger between the clear plastic and the lower part of the bezel.
Drill the hole to accommodate your switch. Use a Step uni bit and be careful not to make the hole too large. Mount your switch and make sure you are not hitting anything while the bezel is mounted back on the cluster. Make your adjustments and then remove bezel again.

Step 3
Take your wire, connect two female leads to the ends. Then plug it into the switch. Now remove the knee guard below the steering wheel. From the top this will swing open on hinges located on the bottom. Run your wire making sure to keep clear of steering column and sharp metal.(Zip tie were needed)

Step 4
Locate the empty rubber grommet(may be used on adjustable pedal). It is above the gas pedal and to the right of the  steering column. Remove it and put an X slice/cut in it. You can just poke a hole but we have found the X seals better. Run your wire to through the grommet and replace the grommet. Now the majority of your wire will be in the engine compartment.

Step 5
Open the hood if not already open and locate the correct fuse box. Three of the four mounting clips are actually used, you will have to release the clips with a screwdriver. You will have to pull up on the box at the same time as you release the clips.

Step 6
Release the 5 tabs that hold the bottom of the fuse box on. One is on the motor side of fuse box and the other for are on the sides.

Step 7
Locate the Tan with red stripe  thicker wire. Its a good Idea to check the location of this wire in correlation to its ABS fuse. 06-07’s Jeeps should be the same but you never know. You will be cutting this wire, so after you cut there is no going back.  You will connect one female connector to one end of the cut wire and a male to the other. So in the future you can just plug them back together use some heat shrink tubing and even the dealer will have a hard time knowing it was cut.

Step 8
Run the wire you pushed through the grommet to the fuse box along side the factory wire harness. (Make sure you route the wire away from heat and moving objects) Hide the wire the best you can and secure it every foot or so with a zip tie.

Step 9
Cut the wire to length, then connect one female connector one end and one male connector to the other. Plug your switch wire to the cut factory wire using the male to female connectors.

Step 10
Close the bottom of the fuse box, reinstall the box on to the three supports. Check for tools under the hood and go experiment.

Have fun and drive safe!
